It all started with one little Girl

Amanda Hope was a special little girl--the type of child who lit up the room with her smile. At the age of nine, she started experiencing severe headaches and flu-like symptoms. After several tests, it was confirmed that Amanda had leukemia. The phone call confirming the diagnosis would forever change the lives of Amanda and her family.

It took three long years of chemotherapy to finally go into remission. Celebrations were held, and a huge “No More Chemo Party” was attended by family, friends, nurses and doctors. She went back to school and started to enjoy life again. Then, one afternoon, three months later, Amanda mentioned she wasn’t feeling well. A battery of tests discovered she had a mass in her brain. Another painful journey of chemo and radiation began. Throughout it all, Amanda’s spirits never waned. She kept smiling and expressing her concern and care for the other children in the hospital.

On March 30, 2012, 11:29am, Amanda Hope lost her battle.  In her honor, we are carrying out her vision of giving some dignity back to our children with something as simple as a shirt designed for them - Comfycozy’s for Chemo.

More than a shirt

As a 12 year-old undergoing chemotherapy, Amanda Hope envisioned and designed a shirt that would give all children a sense of dignity and control. We call that shirt the Comfycozy’s for Chemo. It was the beginning of what has now become a clothing line designed with the input from young users everywhere. The adaptive apparel line has zippers, buttons, snaps, pockets and openings to allow nurses to access the child’s port while allowing them to remain covered. They asked for hoodies, dresses, onesies for infants and shirts designed in a variety of colors...and so we created them!
